General Information
The Rockhurst Sentinel
Established in 1914 as The Rockhurst Sentinel, Rockhurst University’s campus newspaper has striven to provide news to each facet of the Kansas City and Rockhurst communities. During the mid-1900s, The Sentinel changed to The Rockhurst Hawk and as of the 2000-2001 academic year it has returned to The Sentinel. The Sentinel is a member of the Missouri Collegiate Press and the Associated Collegiate Press. It is published once a month and is nonprofit. The Sentinel is operated by a volunteer staff, paid editorship and university-employed faculty moderator. The Sentinel is a free newspaper funded primarily through the Student Activity Fee and is distributed to on-campus student and faculty mailboxes in each of the Rockhurst campus buildings. Subscriptions are available. Back issues are archived in the Greenlease library.
