Roewe takes six quick hits at campus events

Brian Roewe

Issue date: 11/10/06 Section: Commentary
This year at Rockhurst, students were allotted a limited number of sheets of paper - 500 to be exact - for purposes of printing and copying. This policy was most likely instituted for the purpose of deterring trivial printing…..and maybe to save a tree or two if we're lucky. I have no problem with this personally, but Word on the Rock is that others do. It's not that they hate necessarily Mother Nature and enjoy killing her offspring. The problem they have is that they are almost out of their 500 sheets due to classes where slides are expected to be printed for the sake of note taking. To add to the issue, I have also been told some teachers are even unaware of the new paper policy. Ah, and the plot thickens. So what should be done? Should the sheet total per student increase? Or should teachers cut back on their printing demands to students? I don't know which will better solve this situation, but I do think someone should look into this.

Planet Sub has become quite the hit lately, as can be seen by the ever-long line inside and sometimes outside the coffee shop. In fact, these long lines most likely scare some away from stopping for a quick sandwich. Well, I have a solution. Why not create a delivery service? Heck, I'll even sign on as the 1st delivery boy. This is how I see it. A website is created by Planet Sub, Sodexho, or another assigned to the job. On it, the students can select their sandwich, put their ID number so the proper number of points can be deducted, and then hit submit. A confirmation email will be sent once the order has been received and then a delivery boy (person) will knock on their door with a hot-and-ready sandwich. They can even throw in a deal like 'there in 10 minutes or a free delicious Oreo Twister!"

And in regards to an earlier issue, I bring you the Sentinel's 1st Sandwich of the Month: the Roeben - a basic BLT, drop everything but bread and bacon, add ham, pepperoni, American, mozzarella, and Swiss Cheese, baked and melted. The Roeben. If you're daring (and I' not), add a sauce to give it an extra kick.
