Who is Britney Christian?

While drinking milk the other day in the cafeteria, I noticed a picture on the side of the carton. It was a drawing of a young girl named Britney Christian.
Apparently, Britney Christian is a rising teen pop music star. She has been named the spokesperson for a national advertising campaign called "Milk Rocks!" She is very big with the middle school age crowd. The sixteen-year-old Southern Californian's songs are popular on Radio Disney. Her voice has been described as "Christina Aguilera meets Pat Benatar." She is a big deal and not a single person on this campus has a clue who she is.
The reason why she is on our milk cartons is because of the "Milk Rocks!" campaign. It is in school cafeterias all over the country. Clearly, this campaign isn't supposed to grab our demographic's attention, but it seems to be doing a very good job grabbing the attention of hearts and minds our younger siblings.
In an effort to find more information on the "Milk Rocks!" campaign, I went to the "Milk Rocks!" website but it was undergoing some remodeling. The website said that they were getting ready to re-launch soon with even better music and even more incredible contests to win fantastic prizes.
The picture of Christian has been removed and replaced with an ad to "win a Britney Christian concert for your school or other cool prizes." This contest gave me an idea. What if instead of paying a band to come to Rockhurst to perform at Rockstock someone entered this contest and won a free concert? Think about it. We would be in the presence of a musical prodigy who has written the hit songs "Stupid Boyfriends," "Little Things You Do," and "Let's Rock." That would definitely be a more entertaining show than if any of the other bands that could potentially be the headliners. Go listen to "Stupid Boyfriends" and tell me that she won't be a star.
Ok, I am joking about getting her to play at Rockstock but she is a star on the rise. I personally am not a fan of her music, but there are plenty of people out there who are. She is no where near the level of exposure that the other Britney was when she first arrived on the scene, but then again it would take a lot to get there.
It is odd that a national ad campaign that is probably aimed toward the grade school to middle age crowd is a part of our lives and most of us don't even know it. Maybe it arrived unintentionally on campus, but now it is a part of our lives and it will probably continue to go unnoticed by the majority of the student body.
