This summer, our chapter sent four members to the annual Leadership Development Institute in St. Louis. The weekend included workshops on how to further develop the leadership capabilities of our members. It also included fun opportunities to meet other ASA's from chapters all over the country.
ASA has also put together a team for the MS 150 bike ride in Missouri. This is a charity event in which teams bike 150 miles to raise money for multiple sclerosis. This group of girls is dedicating a weekend in September to this worthy cause. We can't wait to cheer them on their way!
On Labor Day weekend, ASA's will be celebrating their Irish pride at the Irish Festival here in Kansas City. We will be working at this event to raise money for our organization.
Also coming up this fall, we will have our annual I Spy an Alpha fundraiser. Keep the lookout for more details yet to come! Our hard work pays off to lessen the cost of many of our activities. Besides fundraising, you might see Alphas volunteering at Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House, which are just a few of our great service opportunities. We also have some fun date parties planned for the fall semester!
Look around campus and you'll see ASA's involved in leadership roles in nearly every program on campus. The diversity of our chapter offers something different to every member in ASA. We're looking forward to a great year and can't wait to meet all of the new faces at Rockhurst!
