Students and faculty can expect a new parking fee this year.

While Rockhurst students spent their summers at work and on vacation, the University has been preparing for their return with a few new surprises. Here's a rundown of what's new around campus, as well as a list of notable summer campus news.

What's New?
The Parking Fee
By this time, most students have noticed the new parking fee which appeared on their first bill. Parking will be $100 each semester for students and faculty will pay $200 for the academic year. Rockhurst hopes the new fee will bring in revenue to help pay for new lots. and relieve some of the parking problems.

Kinerk Commons
The Rockhurst Quad has officially been renamed "Kinerk Commons" after former Rockhurst president, Edward Kinerk, SJ, who served as president until 2006. A new rock wall bears the name, and promptly blocks the route for anyone who cuts across the grass on their way to Sedgwick.

SAB Office
SAB now occupies the former office of Geoff Smith of Rockhurst telecommunications where it can display shirts and future event notices to students in an area of Massman Hall that gets a lot of student traffic.

Administrative musical chairs
A number of administrative offices have moved to different locations on campus. Career Services is now located in Massman 3 with the rest of the Student Development Offices and Financial Aid is now in the same space as the Registrar.

Harvard

Professor Sudhakar Raju, Ph.D., earned the top teaching award given to teaching fellows in Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Raju was on sabbatical last year, earning his master's degree in public administation and public policy. Rockhurst Athletic Director retires
