Food in KC
Genghis Khan

If you were to take the Troost bus down to 39th St., then jaunt westward to Bell Street, you would be just a dozen paces from Genghis Khan's Mongolian Barbeque. While not very cheap, and not close to campus, the quality of the food more than makes up for everything.
For lunch (served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), they have a buffet-like setup, where customers place a variety of noodles, vegetables, meat, and sauces into a bowl and then cook it on a wide, flat-topped grill. After cooking for several minutes, it's put onto a plate, and the food is ready.
Now, the food at Genghis Khan is not for everyone--if you're adverse to spicy food, then you probably won't get the full range out of the available food. The unprepared might find themselves asking the waiter to leave a pitcher of water at the table.
On the other hand, there are bowls marked specifically for vegetarian use, indicating to the cooks that they should keep it separate from food containing meat, a definite plus for any vegetarians that feel they can brave the spices in the food.
The service is prompt and helpful, and most of the waiters and waitresses are personable. While a meal can run you as much as nine dollars, and it can take at least a dollar to get down there if you don't have access to a car, the quality of the food makes it a worthwhile trip.
