Bay Buchanan comes to RU

The Rockhurst College Republicans will be hosting nationally recognized speaker and CNN political contributor Angela "Bay" Buchanan on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 pm in the Mabee Theatre, located in Sedgwick Hall.
In line with recent speakers who have visited Rockhurst University through the Visiting Scholar Lecture Series, Buchanan will offer an intriguing discussion on a current events topic. Buchanan will discuss the Feminist Movement and its affects on women and men around the world.
Topics she will talk about include the movement’s successes and failures, the implications of the family structure and the rights of the unborn. Following the presentation, Buchanan will offer a question-answer session, which is open to any topic.
Having a speaker like Buchanan is an excellent opportunity for the Rockhurst community. She is highly respected in the national media, and she will spark dialogue at Rockhurst
Buchanan has traveled around the nation and spoken at numerous, respected colleges and universities, including
Buchanan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Rockhurst community.
Her political career began as the National Treasure of Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaigns in 1980 and 1984.
In 1981, Reagan appointed Buchanan to be the Treasurer of the United States. At the time, Buchanan was 32 years old, making her the youngest person to hold this position since its creation in 1775.
Buchanan, sister of Patrick Buchanan, is well-known for chairing all three of her brother’s presidential campaigns. In 1996, her leadership helped Pat Buchanan win the Republican Nomination for President; she gained national recognition during the Pat’s campaign for leading the cause for rights for the unborn.
In 1996, George magazine named Bay Buchanan as one of the top 20 political women in the United States.
Currently, Buchanan is President of the American Cause and is a regular political analyst on CNN’s "Inside Politics." Her experience is extensive: she has co-anchored "Equal Time" on CNBC and MSNBC (1996-1999), has worked as a political analyst for "Good Morning America" (1992) and has hosted a two-hour talk radio program (1996-1997).
Bay is also the author of "The Extreme Makeover of Hillary (Rodham) Clinton" and is the proud mother of three sons.
The Rockhurst Republicans are extremely honored to host Bay Buchanan and wants to offer an invitation to everyone to attend this free event.
This year, the Rockhurst Republicans has hosted the 9/11 Remembrance Day (display of American Flags and all-campus prayer service), an American flag give-away to faculty during Veteran’s Day, and screened the movie "In the Face of Evil" in honor of Ronald Reagan’s Birthday in February.
