Even though the Rockhurst softball team got off to a slow, 0-2 start, this powerful senior started out her season batting an impressive 1.000, getting a hit in her first nine at-bats. Jessi Harris is graduating this May with a major in marketing. She transferred to Rockhurst from Southeastern Community College in Iowa as a junior. Harris was a four-year letter earner through her high school career.
When did you start playing?
I started playing t-ball when I was 4. I’ve played every spring and summer since I was 14.
What do you like most about the game?
It’s competitiveness and the camaraderie that you get with it. Some of my best friends are from softball teams.
Who is your favorite player? Male and female?
Ozzie Smith
Dot Richardson
Who is your favorite and least favorite conference team to play? Why?
My favorite conference team to play is any team we beat! My least favorite team is Lewis because their coach was a jerk last year and made us play in thirty degree weather.
As a senior how do you view your role as a leader?
I know that I have to lead through my actions on and off the field. I have a job to do on the field, and it’s hard to be viewed as a leader if I can’t do my job.
Pub food or Planet Sub?
PUB FOOD! Hands down.
Where is your favorite place to go in K.C.?
Anywhere with both of my BFF’s, Hannah Luttenegger and Katie Flott, that serves awesome food. For instance, First Watch, Kin Lin, Arthur Bryants just to name a few. We do work everywhere we go.
