The Rockhurst baseball team has had a mixed bag of wins and losses over the past month. During the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. the team started out hot winning both of their games on Mar. 7 against Lock Haven, 7-3 and 6-5. However, they dropped the next five games of the Classic from Mar. 8-11. They lost 5-6 and 5-8 to Saint Joseph’s on Mar. 8, 1-4 and 2-6 to East Stroudsburg on Mar. 9 and 2-5 to Ashland on Mar. 11. The losses continued to pile up as they visited Bellarmine on Mar. 16 and dropped games 4-5 and 1-5. The following day they dropped the first game at Bellarmine 1-7, but then snapped the eight-game losing streak with a 8-1 win in the second game. After having home games on Mar. 18 and 19 postponed, the Hawks split a four game set with Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at home on Mar. 21 and 22. They opened the series by winning a 11-10 slugfest but dropped the second Mar. 21 game 5-16. Then on Mar. 22 they lost 1-5 in the first game and won 5-3 in the second. They dropped their next home game 2-3 against Washburn on Mar 25, before winning one out of three at Missouri S&T in Rolla Mar. 29 and 30. Then they defeated William Jewell 9-4 on Apr. 2 and split a four-game set with Kentucky Wesleyan at home on Apr. 5 and 6. Their current record, as of Apr. 14, is 14-23 and 7-13 in GLVC play. Junior 3rd Baseman Jordan Myers leads the team with a .361 batting average and 22 RBI.

 

The softball team has fared much better over the past month. They won six out of eight games in the Gene Cusic Classic from Mar. 10-13 in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Fla. Then they beat Missouri-St. Louis twice at home on Mar. 16, 1-0 and 2-1. They split with Kansas Newman on Mar. 19 at home, 5-0 and 1-4. Returning home, they won both games with Park on Mar. 25, 5-3 and 11-5. They split a two-game set at William Jewell on Mar. 27, 6-0 and 1-2. Then back home on Mar. 29 and 30, they split with Indianapolis, 4-3 and 3-5, and Saint Joseph’s, 3-2 and 1-5. Then they dropped both games at Southern Indiana on Apr 2, 3-7 and 2-3. Their record, as of Apr. 14, is currently 17-14, 4-8 in GLVC play.

 

The men’s tennis team is currently 9-2 with wins over Southern Indiana (7-2), Southern Illinois Edwardsville (8-1), Benedictine (5-4), Saint Joseph’s (9-0), Lewis (9-0), Northern Kentucky (7-2) and Indianapolis (7-2). The women’s team is 7-5. They’ve beaten Southern Indiana (7-2), Benedictine (8-1), Saint Joseph’s (9-0) and Lewis (8-1).

 

The men’s golf team finished 6th at the Heart of Memorial Invitational on Mar 24-25 and 8th at the Missouri Western Invitational on Mar 31-Apr 1. The women’s team finished second at the Missouri Western Invitational on Mar 18 and third at the Truman State Bulldog Classic on Mar 28-29.
